If you are unsure about ANYTHING on the premises, please ask!
Compass Line EQ is a community. Please treat other members of the community with respect, courtesy, and consideration.
Your safety and enjoyment of the property are our primary goals.
Everyone who boards or rides horses at Compass Line Equestrian, LLC (“Stable”) is, in addition to the terms and conditions of their respective boarding agreements and liability waivers, subject to the following Stable Rules which may be amended from time to time.
LIABILITY RELEASE AND MEDIA WAIVER REQUIRED: All boarders, guests, and instructors must execute and deliver a Hold Harmless Liability Waiver and Media Release to be on the premises.
HELMETS REQUIRED: ALL PERSONS ON COMPASS LINE PROPERTY MUST WEAR AN ASTM-APPROVED HELMET AT ALL TIMES WHILE RIDING.
SHOES REQUIRED: All persons must wear closed-toe shoes while outside of vehicles.
HOURS: The Stable is open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. July/August: open until 8/8:30. Winter: please text if you come out after dark. May be closed periodically during inclement or severe weather events for the protection of owners and horses. The Stable is happy to make exceptions with notifications. Please text if you need to come out before sunup or after sundown.
LESSONS: Please make note of the lesson policy www.compasslineequestrian.com/riding-and-horsemanship-lessons.
GATES: All visitors must close any gate on the property that they open. Gates shall only be opened after making a reasonable determination that it is safe to do so. If turnout gates are closed, there is a horse in turnout or the turnout is closed. If gate is open, you are welcome to use the turnout or ride in that space.
GROUNDS: Owners and their guests are welcome to the arenas, barns, tack rooms, pastures, rings, trails, and parking areas.
CHILDREN: No one shall leave a minor under the age of 16 unattended on the Stable’s property. Minors under the age of 16 (hereinafter referred to as “Children”) must be under the direct supervision (within sight AND sound) of a responsible adult at all times.
No Children may play in/on the hay bales.
Children, like all riders, must wear AN ASTM-APPROVED HELMET at all times while on horseback.
Minors between the ages of 16 and 18 must have an emergency contact phone number listed in the office to ride in the absence of a parent or guardian. Guardians of 16-17 year olds need to make sure either owners or instructors are present and that the timing is suitable for alternate supervision.
All texting communication with teens will also include parent/guardian.
SMOKING is NOT permitted anywhere on the Stable’s property.
NO DOGS: No dogs are allowed at the Stable except the dog of a boarder that has been given permission by Stable Management. All such dogs must be on a leash and under the immediate care and supervision of their owners at all times.
GUESTS: It is the responsibility of each boarder sponsoring a Guest to make sure that the Guest(s) are aware of, and follow, these Stable Rules. Anyone not in compliance may be asked to leave the property. No Guest may handle or ride a horse unless that Guest has first signed and delivered a Liability Waiver and Release to Stable Management and Stable Management has approved. IF SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE OWNER IS COMING TO RIDE, waivers need to be pre-signed, and management needs to be made aware of the arrangement.
HANDLING HORSES: Respect animals ALWAYS! Do not handle anyone’s horse(s), or enter any stall, without express permission by the horse owner or Stable Management to do so. Do not remove a horse from a stall or paddock without staff permission. Always use a halter and lead line when moving horses. Keep a safe distance between horses (horse length). Use good common sense. When there are horses being groomed or tacked up in the barn aisle, request permission before walking through with your own horse. Do not hard tie horses.
GROUNDS: It is the duty of every boarder to help keep the Stable property free of litter. This duty requires all boarders to clean up after themselves, especially while in the barn. Keep the aisles clean and tidy for your safety and the safety of others. CLEAN UP YOUR HORSE’S MANURE ON DRIVEWAYS, ROUND PENS, ARENA, BARN AISLE, AND TACK UP AREAS.
LABEL YOUR EQUIPMENT. The Stable is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
Do not leave your horse unattended in the barn aisle or wash area. Do not handle anyone’s horse(s) without express permission to do so. Running, shouting, rock/toy throwing, and rowdy, boisterous behavior are not permitted at any time.
Use common sense Arena Etiquette – pass left shoulder to left shoulder, call lines or “inside/outside”. The faster gait has the right of way. Leave the arena as you found it unless you’ve spoken with Jolene or Rachael (poles, jumps, obstacles, etc).
Use of the arenas and trails is weather-dependent. Certain areas may be closed at Stable Management’s discretion.
PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN ON THE COMPASS LINE PROPERTY IN CASES OF EXTREME WEATHER: HIGH WINDS, LIGHTNING, SEVERE STORMS.
Do not feed treats to any horse other than your own without first obtaining permission from the horse’s owner.
I HAVE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE AFORESAID RULES, AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME, AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY FAMILY’S AND GUESTS’ AWARENESS AND COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES.
