JOLENE PERRY: Owner, Trainer, Riding Coach
US Equestrian Federation PRO
USEF Safesport Certified
Insured by Chubb Agribusiness
Jolene started riding at the age of 7 and began professional lessons at the age of 11. Her first years riding were doing western and dressage but she soon moved into jumping with a dressage-based instructor. She won multiple state reserve championships and championships in jumper divisions, Zone 12 Horse of the Year, and several dressage high points during her show career (so far).
Jolene worked at an Arabian breeding and training farm on and off for years, and she’s trained up every horse she’s ever owned for competition.
Her early years were spent training under Genny Wendall of Single Tree Farm, Katie Long of Moose Creek Ranch (Dressage), and Jenny Rousey of Northgate Farm for dressage-based Hunter/Jumper (now at Smoke Tree Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ).
Jolene was fortunate to ride in jumper clinics hosted by olympic medal holders Ian Miller and Greg Best. She continues her education with classical dressage trainer Maria Cook, biomechanic specialist Stephany Crossman, and several other classical-dressage trainers. She is currently expanding into Working Equitation.
Jolene has had the opportunity to train horses as they’re first being started as well as working with horses preparing for jumping, trails, and upper-level Dressage. Her favorite horses to work with are those in rehab being brought back into work after time off or injury and horses whose owners want started slowly. She also loves working with owners who want to train up their own horses–doing check-ins to give feedback and ideas when owners reach sticking points.
She is happy to teach western, english, and dressage as well as general horsemanship skills.
Jolene has five years of public teaching experience (middle and high school), regularly guest lectures in creative writing courses at the college level, teaches at writing conferences and retreats, and has over fifteen years’ experience coaching equestrians. She’s a consultant for equine and equestrian accuracy in novels and screenplays.
Jolene leans heavily into Sally Swift’s Centered Riding as well as Sylvia Loch’s gentle approach to riding, training, and dressage. She continues to study Baucher, Oliviera, Anja Beran, and other classical riders.
Jolene’s background is varied, the disciplines she rides in are varied. She wouldn’t have it any other way. There is something to be learned from every category of horsemanship. Jolene is a lifelong learner and method explorer.

Rachael VanWinkle: Riding Coach and Horse Trainer
US Equestrian Federation PRO
USEF Safesport Certified
Insured by Markel Insurance
Born and raised outside of Fruita, Rachael is a Western CO native. Horses run deep in her blood, raised by a cowboy father and a mother that had done everything from showing Morgans and jumping OTTBs to playing Polo for CSU.
Rachael became the black sheep among her siblings when she made the decision to leave the rodeo world at the age of 10 and take up three day eventing and Pony Club. Rachael finished Pony club in 2013 as a C1 and began riding at Gemini Farms in Rush Valley, UT under Todd and Adrienne Smyrl.
Spending the next five years as a working student at Gemini Farms, Rachael competed up to the preliminary level in USEA, competed in 1.10m show jumping through USHJA, and had the opportunity to help start young performance horses.
Giving lessons during the school year, Rachael began to love coaching as much as she did showing. She has been giving lessons for 10 years and is currently accepting beginner to advanced students.
When she is not at the barn, Rachael can be found coaching volleyball, editing for Waypoint Authors, or at the dragstrip playing pit crew for her husband Cody as he races their 1972 Camaro.
